چکیده
Using three-dimensional (3D) transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) and isometric handgrip exercise (IHE), we investigated the determinants of exercise-induced mitral regurgitation (MR) according to MR etiologies. Seventy-six patients with more than moderate MR, 40 functional (FMR) 36 degenerative (DMR), underwent 3D TEE combined IHE. Mitral valve (MV) geometry vena contracta area (3D VCA) were simultaneously evaluated at baseline during With regard Δ3D VCA was calculated as difference between IHE caused different changes in MV etiologies led exacerbation baseline. Larger observed FMR group compared DMR (15.9 ± 10.3 mm2 versus 7.3 4.2 mm2; p < 0.0001). In multivariate analyses, tenting height selected independent factors associated (p = 0.0135 0.0201, respectively), while flail width an factor 0.0066). conclusion, alters causes regardless etiology differed

Multiplane two-dimensional versus real time three-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography in ischemic mitral regurgitation.
OBJECTIVES Intraoperative three-dimensional (3D) transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) has been suggested to be a valuable technique for the evaluation of the mechanisms of ischemic mitral regurgitation (IMR). Studies comparing multiplane two-dimensional (2D) with 3D TEE reconstruction of the mitral valve using the new mitral valve quantification (MVQ) software are lacking. We undertook a pros...
متن کاملQuantitative assessment of mitral regurgitation: comparison between three-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography and magnetic resonance imaging.
BACKGROUND quantification of mitral regurgitation severity with 2-dimensional (2D) imaging techniques remains challenging. The present study compared the accuracy of 2D transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) and 3-dimensional (3D) TEE for quantification of mitral regurgitation, using MRI as the reference method. METHODS AND RESULTS two-dimensional and 3D TEE and cardiac MRI were performed in ...
متن کاملEffect of Sustained Isometric Handgrip Exercise
Sustained isometric handgrip exercise was studied in 28 patients, 19 with and nine without catheterization evidence of heart disease. Significant increases occurred in left ventricular systolic and left ventricular end-diastolic pressures (LVEDP), heart rate, cardiac output, and cardiac index, with decreases in stroke volume and stroke index. When control and abnormal groups were compared, no d...
متن کاملThree-dimensional echocardiography of normal and pathologic mitral valve: a comparison with two-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography.
OBJECTIVES This study was done to ascertain whether three-dimensional echocardiography can facilitate the diagnosis of mitral valve abnormalities. BACKGROUND The value of the additional information provided by three-dimensional echocardiography compared with two-dimensional multiplane transesophageal echocardiography for evaluation of the mitral valve apparatus has not been assessed. METHOD...
متن کاملExercise-induced changes in degenerative mitral regurgitation.
OBJECTIVES We sought to quantify exercise-induced changes in patients with degenerative mitral regurgitation (MR), to examine the relationship between exercise-induced changes in MR and in systolic pulmonary artery pressure (PAP), and to identify their potential impact on symptom-free survival. BACKGROUND MR severity can change during exercise in patients with functional MR. Quantified change...
